Experience the welcoming atmosphere of Khabarovsk

Khabarovsk is the capital of the Khabarovsk Krai region and is located at the point where the Amur and Ussuri rivers meet. It has a strong military presence - having been the Far Eastern Military Command headquarters for quite some time - but it has never been closed to foreigners as other militarized cities have been. As a result, it has quite a cosmopolitan feel to it as numerous foreigners - mostly Korean, Japanese and Chinese - either tour the city or settle here.

Khabarovsk is quite heavily industrialized and nearly three quarters of the population have some sort of industry-related job. There are large sections of the city that are filled mainly with factories, but the city has not become dull at all. The city is alive, bustling with commuters, shoppers and tourists. Many visitors are drawn in by this vibrant atmosphere and the city keeps getting bigger and better. There are a number of fine gardens and parks that help to beautify it and keep the city's air clean and breathable. The city is also bordered by some amazing forests that further add to its allure. If you were to visit Khabarovsk, what would you do with your time here?

Well, the city is perhaps most famous for its Regional Lore Museum. The museum features rare exhibits like that of the Steller cow skeleton. Another popular attraction is the Art Museum, which has a stunning collection of old Russian icons. After you've seen these two gems, there are numerous theatres, cinemas and stadiums where you can while away your time. Sports clubs and playgrounds also abound and make for a great way to unwind after a long day. Central Stadium, which was opened in 1957, is the largest in the Far East and is Khabarovsk's main claim to fame. The Amursky Boulevard has numerous shops and is a great place to spend an afternoon. You can also take a walking tour from Lenin Square to Utes where you will find numerous Russian cuisine restaurants and souvenir shops. Night clubs, pubs and restaurants keep the chill off the cold Russian nights.

So whether you are visiting Khabarovsk for business, for fun or to visit family already living here, you can be sure that you will have an enjoyable time exploring the many recreational and cultural facilities to be found in this lovely Russian city.
