Explore the Anna Akhmatova Museum

Anna Andreevna Gorenko was born in 1889 and later became known as Anna Akhmatova, which was her pen name. Even though her work was suppressed under the iron grip of the Stalin regime and her creativity banned from publication for years, the literary world of Russia began to take note of her poetry after Stalin’s death, and she is known today as one of the most celebrated poets in Russian history. The Anna Akhmatova Museum at The Fountain House is dedicated to her memory and the work she left behind.

Russia’s Fantastic Final Olympic Results

Russia has succeeded beyond expectation at the Beijing Olympics. Their athletes have excelled in their divisions and have afforded Russia the honor of taking home a total of twenty-three gold medals, twenty-one silver medals and twenty-eight bronze medals. It is a magnificent achievement for the country, showing their dominance throughout the running of the Beijing Olympics. Russia’s Olympic Success Continues

We are now almost two weeks into the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and a lot has happened. Russia has continued to claim victory after victory despite the fact that competition this year seems to be tougher than ever. On our previous count, Russia had managed to win three gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals. That count has now increased to ten gold, fourteen silver and eighteen bronze medals.
